Sports Premium

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. The funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of sport provision. Funding has been allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary phase children from 1st September 2013.

Our allocation this year is £19,490

This year 2021/22, we have been able to:

  • purchase P.E. kits for all our children so that every child participates in all lessons.

  • introduce the teeth brushing scheme in Foundation Stage.

  • enter more competitions and escort the children to these events

  • employed a trainee sports coach to enhance the learning across the P.E department

  • additional swimming lessons to catch up the children post Covid

  • organise a sports personality to visit school and speak to the children

Schools are allocated a sum of money, called the Primary PE and Sport Premium to support all children and improve the quantity, quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. The allocation is calculated according to the intake of the school, and the school must decide how best to use the money to improve the breadth and quality of PE and sport provision, including increased participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.

WHAT DOES OFSTED SAY ABOUT US?
"The sports funding for primary schools is used well to promote pupils’ well-being and increase participation in sporting activities. As a result, pupils understand the importance of keeping active and making healthy choices when they eat. The funding provides pupils with the opportunity to participate in judo, fencing and archery; and older pupils, trained to work as sports leaders, help their fellow pupils during school sports clubs."
