As Governors, we are very proud to be part of the local community and are fully committed to working with Mrs Horton and her staff, the children and parents/carers to ensure that we keep encouraging our pupils to Inspire each other, Believe in themselves and Succeed in all areas of life!
Part of our role as a Governing body is to set the vision and strategic direction of the school and to achieve this we have worked with the school leadership team to identify where the school needs to improve to ensure your child receives the best possible education they can in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.
Our Governing body consists of a diverse group of people from different walks of life, including parents: the different skill set each governor brings allows us to effectively support and challenge the leadership team as a 'critical friend’. All with the aim of improving all aspects of the school, including raising attainment and achievement and ensuring your child's needs are carefully met.
I have been a governor at BDPS for the past 11 years and in this relatively short period of time, the school has changed greatly. OFSTED rates Bedford Drive Primary School as 'Good' and as a caring school and one where the entire team work hard to give every child the best possible experience and education. As such, I am extremely proud to be part of the Bedford Drive team and I know my fellow governors all feel the same way.

Mrs Hayes has been a member of our Governing Body for just over ten years and previously taught at our school. She has a wealth of experience in education, having worked as a headteacher at another local primary school and at the Local Authority.

Mr Boggan joined our Governing Body in March 2022, having been involved with the school for several years previously while working for the Local Authority in a human resources role.
Name: Mrs Littler - Appointed GB/Board as LA Governor

Mrs Littler has recently become a member of our Governing Body and brings a wealth of experience in primary education, having worked as a headteacher at another local primary school and at the Local Authority. Mrs Littler has worked in primary education for 43 years, including 11 years leading an outstanding school as headteacher.

Mrs Cotter joined our Governing Body in December 2016 as a Parent Governor. She has recently become a Co-opted Governor, following her children leaving the school to attend high school.

Mr Sloan joined our Governing Body in February 2021, having previously supported the school for several years by helping to maintain our IT infrastructure. His particular areas of interest as a Governor are IT, Health and Safety and Wellbeing. He considers it a privilege to support the fantastic team at Bedford Drive in his role as a Governor.

Mr Preston joined our Governing Body in October 2024, having previously been involved with the school for several years while working for the Local Authority. His particular area of interest as a Governor is the health, safety and security of the school.

Mrs Freaney joined our Governing Body in October 2023 as a Parent Governor. She brings valuable industry experience to her role, using her knowledge and skills to support the children and staff at Bedford Drive Primary. Her role is an important part of our Governing Body, helping to ensure that the views of parents within our school community are represented.

Mr Olsson joined our Governing Body in November 2024 as a Parent Governor. He brings valuable industry experience to his role and is keen to use his knowledge and experience as a parent to support the children, staff and parents of our school community.

Mrs Horton has been the Headteacher at Bedford Drive since April 2024. In her role, she attends all committee and Governing Body meetings and presents a detailed and informative termly report to governors. Alongside Mrs Hayes, Mrs Horton plays a key role in realising the vision for Bedford Drive, driving up standards and overseeing the many responsibilities involved in leading the school.

Miss Lewis took over the role of Staff Governor from Miss Quinlan in the autumn term of 2021. She brings enthusiasm to her role and is committed to supporting the Governing Body, the school and its pupils.

Mrs Roberts began working with the school in 2024. Through her operational role at Tranmere, she brings valuable knowledge and experience that strengthens our links with the local community. She is keen to contribute to the work of the Governing Body and play an active role in supporting the school, its pupils and staff.
Name: Mrs Alston - Clerk to Governors
Mrs Alston, our School Business Manager and Clerk to Governors, has been working with us since 2014. She plays an important role in supporting the Governing Body, taking minutes at meetings and providing a range of essential administrative and advisory support.
