At Bedford Drive Primary School, our teaching approach is grounded in shared Quality First Teaching techniques and evidence-informed pedagogy. We prioritise consistency in classroom practice across the school, ensuring that every pupil receives high-quality teaching and learning experiences. To achieve this consistent, high-quality teaching, we have immersed some key principles and strategies throughout our school. This ensures that every child is supported to achieve success and reach their full potential.
The ‘Bedford Big Three’
At Bedford Drive, our Curriculum-Wide Pedagogy reflects a coherent, research-informed approach to teaching and learning that spans every year group and subject. We have built our bespoke pedagogical policy using ‘The Walkthrus Toolkit’ – a framework of teaching strategies grounded in cognitive science and proven classroom practice. We chose to align our pedagogy with WalkThrus because it enables a shared language and consistent structure across classrooms, enabling all teachers (and therefore all pupils) to benefit from the same high‐impact techniques.
In all classrooms and in all subjects at Bedford Drive, we have embedded ‘The Bedford Big Three’. These three core principles run through all staff training and are at the forefront of our planning and delivery of lessons. Each of the three core principles also have other relevant Walkthru strategies connected to them.
